Kindergarten Confessions

When the kids came home from school, I asked them as I usually do, how their day was. Alisia went into great detail, as she usually does, to tell me how her day was. While Caleb doesn't usually go into detail like Alisia, he does usually share something. This time all I got was "it was good."

At dinner time, it came out. Caleb casually said, "I think I had to flip my card today (got in trouble for something).

Oh really? I asked. What happened?

"I'm not sure." He shrugged.

Your not sure why you got in trouble?
"Not really..." he said shaking his head.

"Well, what do you think you got in trouble for?" I prodded.

He just shrugged his shoulders and said nothing.

"One time I got in trouble in kindergarten."

His eyes lit up. "What did you do?"

"Someone dared me to put ketchup in a girls hair, and I did, even though she was my friend. She cried and I felt really bad." (yes I DID that!)

"I got in trouble once too," said Alisia. "We were supposed to be taking a nap and I saw a crayon on the floor and I scribbled all over the desk. The teacher walked over and I pretended to be asleep. She told me I would have to scrub it off after school. I felt really bad"

My mouth dropped open when I heard Alisia's confession! She's never told me her side of the story! Then Caleb said, "I think I hit **(his friend) by an accident in his face. I felt really bad too because it was an accident."

OH great! At least we all got that off our conscious!

Kindergarten Updates

The first day of school, Caleb came home and brought me one of his favorite books. He said, "Mommy, I need to write my name in this book. I'm going to learn to read it in Kindergarten."

"Do I have to go to Kindergarten every day?"

"We don't play in Kindergarten."

"I don't close my eyes when we have to lay down." (if he only knew how lucky he is!)

"I spoke Spanish today!" He was proud of this. Their teaching it this year starting in Kindergarten. He's so excited he already knows it and Angel's excited he'll have to use it! Sooo cool!

It's soo funny because apparently, mommies know nothing about Kindergarten! Now all of the sudden, his teacher knows more than I ever could. He always says, "Mrs. Baugher says...."

He loves seeing Alisia in the halls. He comes home and tells me how many times he saw Alisia during the day.

Well, I'm not too sad. I'm glad my big boy is so excited about being there.

I am thankful for the opportunity of sending them to a school where they can pray for each other, their teachers encourage them in the Word, and they memorize scripture. It challenges us to make the home the primary place they recieve their biblical foundation, then school and church just reinforce what they learn at home.

"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

Schools Out

Yay! Schools finally out! We don't have huge plans this summer, but we are looking forward to making mini weekend-vacations.

Here's a picture of the graduating 3rd grade class at their awards ceremony. Her teacher said she was impressed how much she loved her family. Alisia always had stories about her family to share with the class! She is also gentle.

The end of the school year has brought many fun activities.

As a 3rd grade tradition, before they are officially 4th graders, they get to spend the night at the school. The class has been looking forward to this all year and had a lot of fun! They had dinner, played putt-putt, went to the park after dark, watched a movie, then read stories until the kids feel asleep. They were up bright and early for a pancake breakfast.

I had to run Alisia her allergy medicine to her cause she forgot it and was getting itchy. But I got to see some of the fun they were having!

Alisia also had her spring concert. It was so precious! I'm so excited to see Caleb up there next year!

School Days

Ever since I got my new job back in November, I've been promising the kids that I'd eat lunch with them since my job will be more "flexible." Well, it hasn't happened yet! So this week that's what I did. And since it's the last week of school, so I hit them both! Caleb on Tuesday and Alisia on Wednesday. It was a lot of fun seeing how they interact with their classmates and teachers.

I am so thankful for a solid education and sacrificing teachers!

This is interresting and kindof scarey! Compare the leading school discipline problems (Time Magazine, Febuary 1988) I wonder what it would look like for 2000.

Saturday the school had a fund raiser called the "Bear-A-Fair." It was a beautiful day for outside games, and the kids had a lot of fun just being outside. Then we brought Nick Crabtree with us to walk over and visit Mommom and Poppop, then to play at our house for a little while. Caleb had a lot of fun having a new playmate!

This was a "Kiss the Pig" fundraiser. Two teachers were in competetion for raising money and whoever had the most money had to kiss the pig, and get to use the money for their department. They made close to $500 between the two teachers. Mr. McMillian, the music dirrector, won...or lost..depending on how you look at it.

Christmas Play

Here are a few pictures from the school's Christmas play "Mystery of the Manger." They did such a great job! Alisia had alot of fun getting ready for this and Nick made such a cute shepard boy! The school does a great job at encouraging the children stay focused on Christ during Christmas (and throughout the year). They are challenged to put they're strengths and weaknesses in Him and for His glory. And this play was a good example of that.
