Easter Festives

Easter Sunrise Service
We took a pic outside to prove that we did actually get up at sunrise. It was such a blessing that everyone woke up in a good mood to be at church by 6am and we weren't even running late!

After the service, we enjoy a traditionl "Mexican style" breakfast with the congregation.

Angel really looks forward to this because he gets to enjoy all of his favorites at once that I haven't learned to make yet!

After we napped some on Easter afternoon, we enjoyed a traditional "American-style" dinner with my family. We have enjoyed finding a balance to our family celebration to bring in both cultures.

Once again, at this special time of year, I am thankful that I am able to celebrate Christ's Resurrection with my family! I'm so thankful for the heritage passed on to be from my parents and grandparents, that I can now pass down to my own children.

One thing we didn't do this Easter was go to an egg-hunt or paint Easter eggs. I didn't really miss it and I don't think the kids really noticed either. It was nice to be able to celebrate Jesus and reflect on His Amazing Love for us, his children.

"...Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"
John 1:29

OOOH, Girl I am so craving that plate of food from your church breakfast! Some Tamales sound amazing right now!

We have never done the Easter egg thing because we also really want to focus on what Jesus did for us so long ago. We make it all about family and being thankful for receiving the greatest gift of all!!!

p.s. Has anyone heard from Ashley? I have been wondering why she shut down her blog. Thanks.

Wow...it's been forever since I last went to a sunrise service on Easter mainly because the church we now attend doesn't do it...and they should. It was very special growing up! Yummmm the food looks good:D~ Glad you guys had a special Easter and were so blessed! We don't do the Easter bunny/eggs either. My parents also wanted us to focus solely on Jesus and His Resurrection and let me tell ya...that was more than enough to have a celebration in our hearts and in our home!!!

Hi Brooke,
The breakfast really does look wonderful. I love tamales. You posted some wonderful family pictures. Hope your feeling well....What about the babys name?......Looking forward to seeing pictures in June. I bet Alisia and Caleb are really excited. My mom is having some kidney problems and facing possible dialysis and kidney transplant, if you would lift her up in your prayers. We are hoping it will not come to this. Take care of that beautiful family of yours!!!!

You guys look great in the sunrise pic.
We were contemplating going to our sunrise service, but ended up going Saturday night because a friend of ours (who we are trying to get her in a habit of going to church) wanted to go Saturday instead of Sunday.
I cooked a yummy meal on Sunday and we had family over, so it worked out well to do it the way we did.

Your pics are all great!
