They had just finished eating supper and welcomely invited us in. They asked about the baby, school, work, etc, the usual. The kids went off to play and my grandmother sat down to "talk." Our conversation turned toward what God has been doing in our lives and what He has been teaching us. I shared with her how she has played a large role in what He has been teaching me recently, loving my husband, raising my children, my role, etc. And I thanked her for her faithfulness to God. Her response will be forever engraved in my heart:
"I'm so glad to be an encouragement to you, Dear. But if God has laid it on your heart about making some changes in your life, it is from Him. He only chooses to use us to carry out His plan. Over the years, God has taught me many things, and I have learned to obey what He is saying. But it's not always easy. I only hope that you will listen to what He is saying to you because I am sure that it is through obedience that we can find real joy. But it's not always easy."
I'm so blessed to still have my grandparents in my life. We ended the visit praying for eachother. I am so thankful that I am able to pass the legacy I have from them to my children and grandchildren. I'm grateful for her faithful prayers and she is able to quickly point us back to the cross. What a godly woman who fears the Lord!
"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue."

Wow! That's awesome! It's such a blessing to have such a godly grandmother! My own grandmother is now in a nursing home and it breaks my heart, but I'm so thankful to God for the many years we've had with her and for her and my grandfather's (went to be with the Lord 2 yrs ago) faithfulness to Him over the years!
It's an awesome thing to come from a family who has set such a great example of a life lived for Christ!
God bless and have a great day! =)
how special that u have her in ur life! & u look an awful lot like her too! ;0)
Yes, that is definitely a WISE woman. How blessed you are!! Do you think she might be willing to adopt a girl and her 6 kids from CA??!!
I also have a Godly Grandma that is 94 and we are going to visit her next month. Your post has inspired me to do one like it. I must tell you that this post is probably going down as one of my top fave 5 posts so far in the bloggy world. This was a gem, for sure!!!

That must be great to have such a wonderful grandmother....Wish I would have had one, mine was more like the devil. Yes, the devil. She actually hated my dad because of our beliefs and had a petition drawn up to overtake the church my dad had built. She also disowned my mother and left her completly out of her will. I am glad for you though, that you have a special relationship with yours. Have a great weekend.
That's awesome to have such a mentor like that.
I can see the family resemblance, too!
None of my side of the family is saved, so it's hard to turn to them for wisdom, but i always know that i can turn to HIM and he will always provide that for me!
Yes, she is an encouragement. I agree- she's ready to point us back to the Lord.. where the true answers are :)
Thanks for sharing, Brooke.
I love your grandmother! She has a special place in my heart, and I am thankful to be one of the people that has been touched by her life.
Mom-mom is a very special lady. I'm glad you posted this. She has always been an encouragement to me too.
