Sometimes we are good at coming up with excuses on why not to go (to Mexico) right now:
- I'm a sinner.
- I can't be an effective witness.
- I don't know my Bible well enough.
- We'd miss our family, friends, and church here.
- Our kids might get sick.
- We won't find a church like the one we have here.
- We'd miss the comforts of home.
- I won't have the right words to say.
- It's too hard to raise the support.
- Someone else can do it.
- Should with go with an organization? Which one?
- Where would we go?
- When would we go?
- How long would we be there?
- Where would we live?
- Where would the kids go to school?
- Would they fall behind in school not being fluent in the language?
- As Moses put it: "What if they don't believe me or listen to me?"
- How often would we get to come back to visit?
- Who would support us?
Genesis 12: 1-3
It just kind of reaffirmed what we had been talking about. It's a pretty direct command that God is giving Abram. We feel that God has confirmed and reconfirmed to us that He is calling us to go to Mexico. Not only we long to be closer to Angel's family as a living testimoney, but he wants to take the gospel back to his country. We don't want to keep coming up with a bunch of good excuses why not to go. But we're not sure what this would look like for our family. Please pray for our famiy as we seek God's will.
"The LORD had said to Abram,
'Leave your country, your people
and your father's household
and go to the land I will show you.
I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be ablessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you Iwill curse;
and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
"You can do something other than working with God in His purpose, but it will always be something lesser, and you couldn't come up with something better." - Steve Hawthorne
Reasons to go:
1. Follow God's calling in our life.

Very thought-provoking post, Brooke. I will definitely pray for ya'll as you follow God's calling in your life. Thank you for being such a sweet encourager to me over these past months. You are a blessing.
Sorry... I hit the button too many times. :)
i will totally be praying for wisdom and insight on this situation of yours. Sometimes it's hard to obey when God calls us to take a leap of faith.
Have a good rest of the week!
Brooke, you're probably sleeping right now. I'm reading through more of your messages and this one I feel selfish. I left, now you're gonna leave, feels like that's it. But at the same time I'm so proud of both you and Angel that your hearts are so close to God that you are able to hear what he wants you guys to do and where he wants you to go. Not many of us are in that place today with God. We kind of just make our life happen, go to church, go to work, raise our kids...This message of yours was an awaikaning to me that I need to have a more attentive ear to my Heavenly father with my husband. Thank you for your blessing. May God continue to lead you and may both of you keep that attentive ear to Him always.
